Down in the Trenches

The iconic Burberry trench coat has a long and rich history. The company was founded in 1856 by Thomas Burberry, who went on to invent the water-resistant material gabardine. Utilizing that fabric, Burberry outfitted World War I officers as well as explorers headed to cold weather regions. Since then, the fashion staple has gone on to make a successful run in memorable film scenes, such as the end of Breakfast at Tiffany’s where Holly Golightly kisses Paul in the rain. Burberry has not lost any steam with their famed item, recently putting model/actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in a limited-edition rose gold trench for their Burberry Body fragrance ads. Oh rain rain, don’t go away. Come again today…and the next day…and the next…
