The Secret to Staying Fit Over 40

Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Sandra Bullock and Julie Bowen are just some of the over 40 crowd in Hollywood that always makes headlines when they rock a bikini or hit the red carpet in a dare-to-bare ensemble. While these stars may seemingly be defying the odds by their toned physiques, the reality is that they simply have the gift of time which many of us do not have. Due to the rising demands at work and home, the hours afforded to staying in shape decrease as we get older. To counteract the aging process, celebrity trainer Gunner Peterson recommends resistance training to preserve and maintain lean muscle. “The muscle burns calories at a much higher rate when you are NOT working out,” says Peterson, “so it’s easier to avoid gaining weight if you train this way.”
