Forget about waking up before the crack of dawn this Friday to score deals on merchandise. “Black Thursday is the new Black Friday,” says the Los Angeles Times. This year retailers are getting a head start and opening their doors mere hours after Thanksgiving dinner. Walmart and Toys “R” Us are slated to open at 10 p.m. on Thursday, while Best Buy, Kohl’s, Macy’s and Target are opening at midnight. The changes to hours are a result of consumer demand and stiff competition from online shopping sites. According to estimates, 22 million people went shopping on Thanksgiving day last year and 81 million people shopped on Black Friday.
