Paris Meets Bombay in Chanel’s Pre-Fall 2012 Collection

According to Karl Lagerfeld, sometimes you don’t have to travel far to find that spark of creativity. “It’s much more inspiring not to go to a place than to go,” said the famed designer to Style.com. Such was the case for Chanel’s Pre-Fall 2012 Collection where the pieces were influenced by India…a country that Lagerfeld has never visited. However, this proved to be a moot point as the pearl tweeds, raw silk tunics, peplum jackets and jeweled headgear delivered one knockout mashup of Paris-Bombay chicness after another. Traditionally, Europe turns to India to produce intricate pieces of handiwork, but Lagerfeld did a clever reversal opting to produce everything in the Chanel atelier in Paris. Oh, that fiendish fashion genius.
