DIY Detox Harvest Soup

2012 is THE year friends! As we’ve previously mentioned, this new year we are dedicated to living our best life, and what better way to start than with a hearty cleanse of the inside. Specifically, we want to rid our bodies of all the delicious yet not so healthy food we merrily consumed from Thanksgiving Day thru New Years. Giuliana Rancic’s Fab Fit Fun blog has posted an easy-to-make Detox Harvest Soup. See full recipe after the jump.

Ingredients:
3 cups vegetable broth
2 carrots, sliced
2 sweet potatoes, chopped
1 cup butternut squash, cubed
1 cup red lentils
1 medium yellow onion, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
2 tablespoon basil, chopped
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon maca
1/2 teaspoon cumin
Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
1. Place all ingredients in large pot and heat on high until boiling.
2. Cover and simmer until vegetables are tender.
3. Add salt and pepper to taste and serve.
