Magna Carta: Barneys New York Does Holiday With Jay Z

Barneys New York is teaming up with Jay Z and a host of high-end designers on a limited-edition holiday collection. Dubbed “A New York Holiday,” the BNY SCC (Barneys New York Shawn Corey Carter) products are mostly geared towards male customers, with some dual-gender items in the mix, and centered around a color scheme of white, black, silver and gold.

“With this project, Barneys New York and I were able to take the slickness, energy and innovation of New York City and translate that into quality, timeless pieces,” Carter said to WWD. “Everything that encompasses ‘A New York Holiday’ — the items chosen, the amazing designers that participated, the windows, the design of the BNY SCC Gallery — represents a perfect example of a unique and groundbreaking collaboration that I hope demonstrates how inspiring New York has been to me.”

On the higher-end of the collection is a Shawn Carter by Hublot 45 mm watch complete with black alligator straps, a deployment buckle and yellow gold movement for $33,900, with a black ceramic version available for $17,900. Other items include a black leather backpack from Balenciaga, a tailored jacket from Lanvin, a faux-crocodile trim duffel bag from Proenza Schouler, a square-print scarf from Balmain an ivory-and-black colorblocked cashmere blanket by The Elder Statement and an 18-karat gold double ring from Hoorsenbuhs.

Available November 20, the holiday collection will be available online and at Barneys flagship locations in New York, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Chicago and Boston, with 25 percent of all sales going towards the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation.
